Michael Arrington at Tech Crunch published an article this morning on a tragic event in Santa Clara, CA – “A Sad Day in Silicon Valley.” A few questions came to mind –
– The loss of a job should never result in violence of any kind. But when it does, I wonder what the true reason was. Just wonder.
– American Airlines is an example of a company that was able to bargain with the collective and get the Union to agree to overarching wage reductions to save jobs for everyone. NPR reported earlier in the week some corporations are making the move to either reduce or suspend 401k contributions temporarily until the company is financially able to support the program. What other ways can layoffs be avoided? We are going to have to get creative for the next few years.
